Corporate Blogging

I've seen for myself how powerful the blogosphere can be when it comes to disseminating news. Robert Scobel's departure from Microsoft spread like wildfire in the blog world. Corporate blogging can be just as powerful.

Speaking of Scoble, I found a story on his site about a company that is doing corporate blogging the correct way. DreamHost is web hosting firm who apparently has been experiencing some power issues, as well as a few networking issues. In their blog, they are very open about the issues they are having, what they are doing to fix them, and accepting the blame when they are at fault.

What really struck me though was the comments. Well over 200 last time I checked, and the majority all seemed to be in support of the company, and largely due to the fact that DreamHost was so open and honest about the problems. Further, customers seemed to feel like DreamHost had learned from it's (and others) mistakes, and was taking efforts to correct them.

Imagine the brand loyalty that would be created if more companies had corporate blogs that were open, honest, and forthright about their products and services. All because of a blog.
