Election Results

I braved the pouring rain, crazy drivers and highway 280 in order to cast my vote first thing in the morning yesterday. I wasn't particularly enthused about any of the candidates, sadly I think I joined the legions of folks who were more voting against people than actually for someone.

By the time last night rolled around I had suffered through weeks of political ads, campaign speeches and news pundits giving me their opinions. So while millions sat in front of the TV, tuned to the news channels eagerly watching the election results, I happily tuned in to an evening of my favorite show Dirty Jobs.

In case you've been under a rock or don't have a decent TV provider, Dirty Jobs (http://www.discovery.com/dirtyjobs) is a show where the host Mike Rowe goes out and attempts to learn how to do a dirty job. He's inspected sewers, processed pig slop, picked up garbage, cleaned out sewer drains and septic tanks, fought fires, saved seals, mined coal, demolished buildings, moved buildings, sexed both chickens and alligators (although not at the same time), dug for guiducks, and more.

After all the politics I was feeling dirty, and needed something that would make me feel clean, and Dirty Jobs was just the thing. Besides I had this strange thought that if I sat and watched all the election results it actually wouldn't make a difference to the outcome, and by golly I was right.

Best of all I knew I wouldn't have to deal with any politicians. Politics is a job so dirty even Mike Rowe wouldn't touch it.
